Nine days through the Himalayan kingdom, from the capital at Thimphu over the Dochula Pass to the dzong at Punakha, the glacial valley of Phobjikha and the Paro valley. Monasteries, museums and village walks give the trip its rhythm, with a conversation with a senior monk at Gangtey and an evening meal in a Paro farmhouse. The finale is the hike toward Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest, clinging to the cliff high above the valley floor.
